When I launched the game, the screen changes resolution and turns to black. Then it suddenly returns back to windows with a dialog box that says:

Illegal exception
---------------------------
An exception 0xC0000005 occured in ACWIN.EXE at EIP = 0x0049233C; program pointer is -91, ACI

version 2.51.440, gtags (0,0)

AGS cannot continue, this exception was fatal. Please note down the numbers above, remember what

you were doing at the time and notify CJ on the Tech forum.

I'm using windows xp sp2 and my graphics card can handle most of AGS Games.

That's a very old version of AGS now, so unfortunately we probably can't help.

However, try changing the sound settings in Setup to disable sound and see if that helps.
Also, try changing the game resolution and enabling letterbox mode.
