It only just started happening and I don't know why.  Whenever I try to load a particular room for editing, I get this message saying AGS has to shut down.  The code is

(Exception 0xC0000005 at EIP=0x005D9D73, AGSE v.2.60.454)

Does that mean anything to anyone and is there anything I can do? It's just this one room; all the others work fine ???

JudasFm

Oh...wait, it's just appeared but the image and sprites are all shot to hell.  Looks like I'll have to redo.  Never mind :)

Pumaman

Strange, looks like the room got corrupted. Any ideas of why (did you turn the computer off while it was saving, or anything like that?)

JudasFm

No, nothing like that.  My computer doesn't shut down so if I want to turn it off or restart I usually have to pull the plug, but that wasn't happening then.???

I think it might be a memory problem with my system; it pretty runs on hamster power.  I've lost large chunks of sprite files more than once before now; I'm starting to think my game's jinxed ::) I'm not sure why it picked that room of all rooms, though.  Luckily it kept the hotspots, regions and walkable areas intact so I was able to redesign it without too much trouble.  It just seemed to be the room image.  I haven't tested it yet (I've only just managed to replace the last of my sprite files) but it all seems okay now.

Backup your game files often.

You may also try deleting ac2game.dta and acsprset.spr, then removing the "backup_" from the file names of backup_ac2game.dta and backup_acsprset.spr and see if you can recover your lost data. (WARNING: Backup the game files before doing this!)
