Auto-number speech lines issue: multiple playable characters

My game has more than one playable character. As a result, the option text in different dialogs are intended to be spoken by different characters. However, the "auto-number speech lines" wizard simply assigns all of the dialog options to be spoken by the initial playable character. Is there any way to fix this, other than manually renumbering things? I was hoping there was a way to tell the "auto-number speech lines" wizard that the options for a certain dialog are supposed to be spoken by a different character than the initial playable character.

Unfortunately if you're changing the player character, there's not really a nice way to make the auto-numbering work very well. This is actually one of the reasons for my upcoming project I'm using a single player character and changing the view instead of changing the actual player (because then I can replace the speech line number based on the view and just have the various speech lines for each costume named for the initial player...).

The speech system is actually something that I would say could use improving, but it probably wouldn't be a simple or easy fix.

Oh, dear... well, it got most of game's dialog right; I suppose I can fix the last few bits manually.

In my case, dialogs account for a relatively small portion of the total speech in the game, so having to fix them manually isn't the worst thing in the world. It would still be nice if AGS did this for me, though. Maybe a future version could allow you to designate which character will read the option lines for a given dialog.
