Blue Cups

My monitor turns off randomly and the computer has to be restarted to get it to work again. The last time this happened, I pushed alt-tab and control-s to save the game. I restarted the computer and now all the sprites are blue cups for the game I was working on. I tried using the backup sprite set and backup game file and neither of them worked. Any other previous mad games work however.

Here is what it looks like.

I don't really see why you would Alt+Tab unless you had another window open and didn't have AGS as the active window..but it seems to me that this has nothing to do with a problem in AGS. You say you pressed Ctrl+S to save, but how do you know it saved properly? How do you know you didn't restart the computer in the middle of it saving?

Basically this isn't a bug..sorry to hear you lost your imported sprites though. Hopefully it won't be too much work getting them re-imported.

Okay. I'll start re-importing. Thanks for the help.

Unfortunate. But I would have loved to see a screen capture of that game...with all those cups. Insane.

I've had a near miss like this while using an "uncompressed" sprite file. My file was like 180 megs, and at that size, it can take a while to save. Needless to say, I have my AGS backup reminder set for 7 days, and when it pops up, I copy my entire game directory off and name it "gameName-backup-currentDate".

To anyone that might want to protect their data in an even better way, consider using a revision control solution.

Forum thread regarding revision control

The wiki page is pretty technical, but in a nutshell: Revision control allows you to store and recall old versions of files.
