As Paint.NET is one of the better free paint programs, I use it, but pasting, i got this error:

Just got this trying to paste something into a  newly created sprite folder in AGS 2.72:

Exception 0x0000000
at EIP=0x000000000
AGSEDIT v2.72.652 SIP=26

Sad

and I can recreate it, it seems. The image was a subselection of a layer in Paint.NET... when I pasted it into MS Paint and copied it again, it worked fine....

In fact any pasting from paint.NET seems to mess it up

Not to mention that files you saved in Paint.NET are not guaranteed to work if saved with a certain extension... png, I think...

I'll take a look at it at some point, I guess I'll need to install this Pant.NET program first though.

I never tried it, but I have a feeling that this is probably caused by copying an image with transparency from the clipboard that the editor can't handle at the moment.

SSH

I think Paint.NET must always include the transparency information because it happens evenon the simplest images. A workaround is to paste into MS Paint first.

On a similar note, I frequently use Microsoft OneNote's screen clipping function to quickly grab a screenshot of a certain part of the screen (say part of a Flash sketch) to import it into a game.  OneNote lets you drag a rectangle over the screen and then copies that part of the screen to the clipboard.

If I paste the clipping into MS Paint or Photoshop, it looks fine, but if I paste it into the AGS editor, it takes three pixel columns off the right side of the picture and moves them to the left side.  Then it adds three randomly colored pixels to the bottom left hand corner of the image.

To get around this, I paste into Paint, then copy again and paste into AGS.  But I'm not sure why I'm having this problem.

SSH

Actually, I've been finding that pasting INTO Paint.NET from AGS does that 3-pixel thing you mention, Vince.

Must be a larger header - bmps are often stored bottom to top, so 3 more words in the header than expected would show up in the bottom left corner, and wrap three columns right to left.
