Having problems installing the program AGS

Hey I have just downloaded the AGS install file and installed the program..

But everytime i try to run it I get the message:

" C:\Programmer\Adventure game studio 3.1.2 SP\AGSEditor.exe

This program could not start because of a wrong programconfiguration. The problem could be solved by installing the program again"

I have tried installing 100 times now and have tried the rar file instead...

I am currently using Windows XP, and have net framework 2.0 installed....

I hope that anyone can help me...

Have you just installed the .NET Framework or did you already have it?

If you already had it, could you try installing it again, it sounds like something is corrupt there.

i already had it installed, but i "Fixed" it and that should do the deal ?

Nope and i have tried to reinstall the framework but that didn't help either...

I have looked everywhere for an answer but I can't seem to find any, I have found some pages about a program called "code blocks" (a programming program) But I can't seem to make that work either.. so any help is very appreciated..

What is the exact error message you get? If it's not in English, then post it anyway, it might help us with googling the problem.

Question: have you tried with previous versions? By doing this you can see if the problem's only in the last version or in the previous too, which will be of great help for CJ.

Ok now we have something

I tried:

Previous versions

You can download AGS 2.72 (3.71 MB) if you need to upgrade old games prior to using AGS 3.

and placed the files in a folder,, and it worked!

so it is only the new version i can't get to work ....

Which service pack do you have installed for Windows XP?

Also, you can try getting .NET 3.5 at http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/ and installing that before trying to install AGS.

Did you actually install AGS via the executable:

or did you just download the RAR file and tried that?

I have tried both and they both give the same error message...

I have service pak 1, because it isn't an original xp copy i have, so i haven't tried 3.5 net framework..

Since 2.72 works, that probably indicates that the .NET Framework installation on your computer isn't working properly.

Also, Windows XP Service Pack 1 is very old now and as far as I know it's no longer supported by MS.
