I just upgraded to 2.6 and I've been having constant problems.  Right now it's saying that 'the game editor attempted to display sprite number X, which is an invalid sprite number'.  I've backed up my game, but I was just wondering if anyone had had similar problems...?  If so, any ideas how to get round them?

Gilbert

Just import a dummy sprite, then right-click on it in sprite manager, select change sprite number... and change its number reported to be missing.

It's possible that you deleted some sprites (most of the time the initial ones) accidentally causing this error.

JudasFm

Thanks, but when I tried that it just replaced the image with that of the dummy one ???

Gilbert

Hmmm did you mean that the sprite existed before upgrading the version and is really required for the game?

JudasFm

Yeah.  I should've known better than to upgrade  ::) Sprites 110-117 are used in the game but are viewed as missing by the editor.  It's the same with a lot of the images used in the character views.

Gilbert

In that case I'll stick this topic, as it's a possible bug. But you have to wait until CJ returns.

Sounds like a load of sprites have 'disappeared' - but I'm not sure why that would happen, and it's certainly never been reported before. Can you try copying the ACSPRSET.SPR file from your backup folder into your newly upgraded 2.6 game folder and see if they reappear?
