Error Message

This comes up,

Well the details are as follows:

Before, I had tested (scripting) using the AGS program and when I tested the game it kept repeating one scene and I couldn't escape.

My computer had to be re-formatted.

I saved the program and all my work into an external hard drive.

After my computer got fixed I moved the program into it.

I fixed up some walkcycles and when I saved the game this error message showed up.

I loaded another game, did nothing, and saved it; this error message showed up again.

I can't save my games! Please help me!

I hope I posted in the right forum, I am a beginner after all.

EDIT: Please post error messages as text, not image, for easier searching.

I'm not sure if I understood right what you were doing, but if just loading any game and saving it unchanged brings the error up I'd guess there's something wrong with your computer, not the game source or AGS. But if it's just one game that does it, the source files are probably corrupted, or the hard drive it's on. But if it's moved from another hard drive to a new one, it's most likely just the files.

Tho that's just my guess. And this sort of stuff, although your reasoning is good, belongs in the main tech forum, since it's not that much a beginners' issue... Anyhow, this'll most likely get moved there then.
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

It shouldn't be the computer...(but if it is, I'm changing it's name to a 5 letter word begining with B, ends with H, has a T in the middle and I on the left side and C on the right side of that T)

Should I just download the program again? And/or start scripting my projects over from scratch?

Gilbert

My suggestion:
Download AGS again, extract it to another folder, just start a new game and save immediately.

If it still crashes there's something wrong with your computer, either hardware, software or configuration. In this case, as you had formatted your harddrive, so I suppose your OS (some Windows?) was freshly installed, which may be lacking some essential fixes and updates. Try to update your system softwares (drivers, Windows updates, DirectX, etc.) and see if this solves your problem.

If the game was saved successfully, possibly there's something wrong in your backup files, either in the AGS package files or your game's files. In this case try copying your game's folder to the newly extracted AGS folder and see if it works with the redownloaded AGS. (I hope you're not forced to reformat your Harddrive because of computer virus or some disk failure, since in that case it's possible that the backup files were damaged by the virus or the disk failure).

Ashen

Gilbot's advice is good, but I agree with Ishmael (as does the error message it's self), so I'll move this to the Tech forum.
I know what you're thinking ... Don't think that.

Thanks for the help guys.

Something wierd is happening, The AGS program only works properly if I place it in my desktop. (I used to keep it under various folders)

Nonetheless it works, so I should be more careful with my experiments now.

Again thanks guys!

Gilbert

What folder name did you use?

Try putting it in something simple as c:\ags and see if it works.

AGS did have problem with some filenames (like with the silly "windows compatible" LFN which contains accented characters, punctuations, etc.), I think it's been fixed, but I'm not very sure.
