I'm running a face location with the mouse cursor as the position.
I drew eight loops, four diagonals, but these are not used. Am I doing something wrong, or will FaceLocation only accept the four "basic" loops?
Is the "no diagonal loops" unchecked?

after I had added two diagonal frames for each direction all works fine.

This feature is to allow you to have a single frame in the diagonal directions, which will only be used when the character is turning round when walking, to produce a smoother turn effect.
FaceLocation will only allow him to face directions which he can actually walk in.
