I have encountered a bug in 2.55 version of AGS. When you start a new game and after you get to name the game folder the PC say: " The program have executed a forbidden action and will be shut down." and it shuts down.
The info for this is something like this:
AGSEDIT caused an invailid side-error in
modul AGSEDIT.EXE on adress 018f:005698a8.

Could anyone undo this error, I mean I can't start any new games thanks to this. Please help. By the way, am I alone about this?
Which beta version are you using?
Does the crash happen when you click the "Next" button?
The best way to solve stupid illegal operations is to reinstall windows.
CJ: I don't know which Beta version since Jimi have showed me the download link. Yes, it does happen when I hit the "next" button.
Archangel: Is that actually a good idea? I don't want to loose the stuff I have in my PC.
What version of windows are you using? It's quite often possible to just install windows on top of itself, which will replace any corrupted files but keep your settings and data intact.
Note, however, if you do do this some programs may need to be reinstalled, if they absolutely require a later version of a dll. You'll also have to reinstall the latest directX, among other things.

Download the latest beta 4 and try it out, just to make sure that the problem is still there.
Does it matter what name you type in for the game by the way, or does it always crash?
The problem is still there. I remember that it was beta 4 of 2:55 that I downloaded before. I tried it again but it's still there. The name didn't matter at all, so it always crash when I start a new game. Now what to do?
strange, has anyone else had this problem?
what is the complete folder path of where you installed AGS to?
can you try installing it to "C:\AGS" and run the editor from there - see if it helps at all.
