Test game will not load (cannot set video mode) (SOLVED)

Following the tutorial for starting the basic of your first room, when i go to 'Test Game' it comes up with the following message.

'There was a problem initializing graphics mode 320x200 (8bit)
Problem (cannot set video mode)
Try to correct the problem or visit the AGS homepage'

I would be extremly grateful if anybody could tell me how the resolve this.

Ooops.....think i may have solved the problem....changed the game resoltion higher.

Your graphics card doesn't support 320x200@fullscreen.
But you don't have to use a higher resolution, running the game in a window or using the x2 or x3 filter should suffice.
