PRINT
COPY
PASTE
I really want to make a word processecer in ags along h other office applications and these features are a must.
Well, copy and paste could be done easily via scripting, BUT... AGS does not support strings over 200 chars long That would be a very short document.
The printing function would prolly have to be done via plugin, but who knows.
Question, Why would you want to make a word processor in AGS anyway? That's not what its made for at all, and its kinda just a waste to add functionality for a project that has nothing to do with ADVENTURE GAMES.
Sorry, I really can't see how those features would be useful for an adventure game engine.
Its okay CJ, I will try to write a plugin
Out of curiosity... why would you use AGS to write a word processor? Visual Basic and Visual C++ have tons of templates and functionality that can get it done in a matter of days. It's like writing tetris in postscript, or pong on an oscilloscope (and yes, I actually know people who did that)
The only possible reason I can think of for a "word processor" type system in an AGS game (or ANY kind of game for that matter) would be if you wanted the player to be able to keep a written journal. But even in such an event, those functions would not be necessary...
WHY do you want this?
Well, I want to test the boundries of ags, and my version of c++ wont alow me to use programs I make on other computers. I just hate ms word and think I could do better and I believe that ags could make alot of great programs types.
Actually IMO if you want to use AGS to its boundaries, you should use whatever internal features and NOT a plugin. Moreover, bear in mind that using a plugin breaks compatibility.
wait... you think you could make a better word processor than MS word with AGS?
It just sound silly to me. :)
Chris:
I would like to convert the AGS helpfiles into delicious cajun recipies! Could you please consider to spice it up a bit? ;)
