Title: Game freezes at start of Run using editor?
Post by: cameron1093 on Sat 21/02/2009 20:30:48
I'm new to AGS 3.1.2 or whatever the latest version is, ive used 2.72 in the past and decided to try out the new version. Anyways i try to run the demo game and it fails. The game loads up but whenever i put my cursor in the active part of the window these things happen
1.  The game cursor won't follow my cursor
2. the entire matrix type thing freezes until i click on the bar to move the entire window, and then i go back to the game and it happens again

Ive tried many other games on this and would like to know if im missing something, please hurry as i would like to create a game to describe the adventures of Electron Eddie through the photosynthesis and cellular respiration cycles for my Biology project

Are you using Vista? When you press Run, does the screen flicker and a pop-up message tell you that it's switching into Basic mode?

If so, this happens because the demo game is still only 8-bit colour, but you should be able to get around it by alt+tabbing to another application then back into the game again.

To stop it happening to you, make sure you create your game at 16- or 32-bit colour, and choose the Direct3D graphics driver.
