I am new to this site and the forums but when I try playing a game I downloaded I get the Sync Out of Range error on my monitor.  I recently reloaded Windows XP and before that I didn't have the problem.  My screen resolution is 1024x768 and the screen refresh rate is 60 hertz.  I read other forums and couldn't find a solution so I thought I would try my luck here.  If someone could help it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Adam

Which game are you trying to run, what are the settings in winsetup you tried?
If it's a lowres game, try to run it in a window using the x3 filter. Almost as good as fullscreen.

The game is Arden's Vale but for the other questions you had, I'm sorry but I'm not that computer literate.  I just know the basics and can follow step by step instructions.  Can you guide me in the right direction?  I tried playing in a pop out window instead of fullscreen but the window was tiny.  Still though, thanks for the help.

The window was tiny because a 320x240 window in your resolution, well, IS tiny.  ;)

There is another exe file in your game folder, called winsetup. Run it.
You can use it to change between windowed and fullscreen mode, and you can also select from a list of scaling filters. They will double or triple the actual game resolution, and as Khris said, windowed mode with the x3 scale filter is as good as a fullscreen view (it would result in 320x240 * 3, meaning you get a 960x720 window).

Hope that helps ;=

You can also try the x2 filter and fullscreen; that shouldn't give your monitor trouble.
