Title: Having problem with translation (SOLVED)
Post by: Gord10 on Sun 28/03/2004 11:01:28
I can't translate my game! The "tra" file is:

AGSTranslation       ˜>   are©‰Ã Â?káç‡Â¶Ã'¢á£µ?°êàŸ˜a
      A   Aÿÿÿÿ

and it gives the error:

"The selected translation file was empty. The translation source may have been translated incorrectly or you may have generated a blank file."

But I'm sure that I've translated just the dialog and interface texts. Please help me!

What does your translation source file look like? You did insert the translated lines below the corresponding English line, and not replace the original line, right?

Yes! I've already solved the problem since yesterday, while thinking about it; but couldn't tell it here, because I hadn't a change to connect.
Thanks, though :)
(Damn, how couldn't I understand that I should type the translation text below the original text before starting a new topic? Ashamed :-[  )

I've got the same problem I think.

"The translation has been generated but there do not appear to be translated lines in it. The current translation will have no effect."

I did enter the lines below each line without level open lines. I followed the manual instructions. I'm not sure what can be wrong? Could someone with knowledge maybe suggest things haha? Or could I e-mail my text file to someone?

It contains characters like ěÅ¡čřžýáí

Any help? I use version 2.7

-------------------------------------
Here is the first part:
------------------------------------

// AGS TRANSLATION SOURCE FILE
// Format is alternating lines with original game text and replacement
// text. If you don't want to translate a line, just leave the following
// line blank. Lines starting with '//' are comments - DO NOT translate
// them. Special characters such as [ and %s symbolise things within the
// game, so should be left in an appropriate place in the message.
//
// ** Translation settings are below
// ** Leave them as "DEFAULT" to use the game settings
// The normal font to use - DEFAULT or font number
//#NormalFont=DEFAULT
// The speech font to use - DEFAULT or font number
//#SpeechFont=DEFAULT
// Text direction - DEFAULT, LEFT or RIGHT
//#TextDirection=DEFAULT

That file looks ok -- if you could upload it and post the URL perhaps we can find a problem.

For example, it's possible that the file has unix-style rather than DOS-style carriage returns, so AGS thinks the whole file is one line.

Thanks pumaman. It seems to work now, it was saved as unicode.
