I am using Version 3.2 Final 5 on Windows 7 (with up-to-date maintenance). Every now and then, with no discernible pattern,  I receive the following error message:

Unable to write to the current directory. Do not run this game off a
network or CD-ROM drive. Also check drive free space (you need 1 Mb free).

I am not running the game off a network or CD-ROM drive, and I have plenty of disk space. The error can occur under any of the following circumstances:

1) In the AGS Editor, with a press of F5 or CTRL-F5 to run the game.
2) In Windows Explorer, with a double-click of WINSETUP.EXE, then a click on SAVE and RUN.
3) In Windows Explorer, with a double-click of the compiled executable.

After clearing the error message with a click of the OK button, I try again, and the game runs just fine. In a typical development cycle (F5, change something, F5 again) the error might only occur once in 30-40 tests.

My first guess is a virus checker taking slightly too long to verify the new file and AGS is perceiving that delay as a write error.

Try disabling your virus scanner if you have one and see if that helps.
