Title: I Need Help With An Error Message & Getting My Game Running Again.

I really am enjoying Adventure Game Studio and it's many features, but I was designing a game recently, and suddenly the game I was designing is unable to be shown!  I'm using Windows XP.  What is more, I was given this rather nasty error message, it can be seen at this web link:

Could you please help me with this problem? I want to be able to continue my game design!

The first thing I'd recommend is upgrading to AGS 2.62, which contains various bug fixes and enhancements. If that doesn't help, any chance you could upload the game so that I can take a look at the problem?

Yes! I would like to e-mail a compressed version of the game that I'm working on.

It's very small, since I have just started it, so I should be able to send it!

One of the game files is corrupt, which is why the game will no longer load.

Did you close the program while it was saving your game, or did you get a power cut or anything like that? It looks like it's been interrupted half way through saving the game and it hasn't been saved properly.

What you can try is this:
1. Rename the "ac2game.dta" file to something else (eg. "broken.dta")
2. Rename the "backup_ac2game.dta" file to "ac2game.dta"
3. Try and load the game into the editor.
4. Take regular backups in future ;)

Well, the bad news is, the damage is ireversable; I'm unable to fix it with even the steps that I took.  Good news is, I was able to recover some rooms, AND I have all my Backgrounds, Characters, and Objects backed-up!

But Thank You for taking the time into looking into my problem, I'll be sure to get my game back on track, better than ever...

I'm excited at the prospect of sharing my Sci-Fi/Fantasy Adventure Game with you all!
