Title: LOOM template available
Post by: Spyros on Sun 04/05/2003 14:13:42
I don't know if it will be usefull (loom interface hasn't been used for any games ) but I wanted to make it :)

What is implemented:
1.The icon of the item that the mouse is over appears on the bottom right corner.
2.If the player clicks on an item it is chosen (The icon/name appears on the bottom right corner) and the player can play a tune.
3.The player can play a tune and the appropriate interaction of the chosen item is run.
4.Learning note system. The player can play only 3 lower notes in the beggining and can learn how to play the higher notes. In this small demo can learn the notes by clicking on the music book (the green one).
5.Learning tunes system. The player doesn't know any tunes in the beggining. In this demo he can learn the tunes for the games interaction by clicking on the spell book (the red one).
In this demo I have used 6 interactions (look-open/close-push/pull-talk) but you can add as many as you want.(just use the mode number 5 and the global int 100)
6.Random generation of tunes for each mode in the beggining of the game. Also check if a tune is the same with another.
7.Normal/expert mode.

What is not implemented:
1.When learning tunes EGO just say them  (they re not flashing on the staff). That will be fixed soon
2.Save/load menus. (It's something easy and boring so I may make them later)
You will need AGS 2.55 beta4 or newer

Great! Maybe you should implement the difficulty choice in the beginning.( Easy displays the notes, hard doesn't.)

Hey,there's something wrong with it.
AGS says it's a fatal error or something...

I checked it with 2.55beta 4 and it's ok. Haven't tested it with 2.55 final.
I'll do this later

Hey, spyros, can I add it to my on-line template collection?

Jannar was it about restart game?
This is what happened to me 1-2 times

The bug I found and the workaround is:
"When the game starts for the very first time the tunes for each interaction are randomly generated. There's a check to see if some tunes are the same. If there are the same the game automatically restarts itself. Sometimes there's a crash with a message that the game can't be restarted. Just close the window and run the game again."

redrum I sent you the template, you can put in the collection. What's the url?

Sorry, but it's already good fortune that I've managed to put up my own webpage - I really don't know my way in the net, as a result I don't know what you're talking about. All I know is my website is www.freewebs.com/skimbleshanks/.

No. It was the default AGS editor error box. After taken use of the template, AGS quits, with that error dialogbox.

Because AD.com is down at the moment I think, you may ask Spyros directly or wait for the site to be back up.

Great gui! I've looking at it, and i have seen that you added some
new types of interactions or removed those that werent useful in the interaction editor. How did you do that??
how do you modify them?? thanks

Jannar the template in the url is the latest one.
Proskrito : what do you mean by "new type" of interactions?
If you mean the open/close push/pull etc take a look at the code. I used something like the LEC gui trick.

oh, nevermind.  :-\
i didnt know that changing the cursor names would change the names of the interactions in the interaction editor :-[
I get shocked when i saw the little blue flag with Push/pull , open or close as caption, instead of usermode1 and usermode2 an so.

I realize that this was a year ago, but if anybody still has this template I would be interested in acquiring it. Neither of the URL's seem to work for me  :(

redruM: Would you be interested in combining juncSource and your resource site? Yours is down a lot, which is a bummer because I think that you have great content.

Lots of hits. It unfreezes the ninth of every month.
