Ok, I recently had to replace AGS because of a virus: (I'm using 255 by the way):
Ok I copied the files in a folder I created in the AGS directory, I load my game, then save it. If I try to setup my game in agsedit.exe it says:'ERROR: Unable to run engine to run setup'
If I try to run Winsetup in the compiled in the folder it says: 'Unable to launch 'Roy.exe'.Make sure that file is in the same directory as this Setup Program..which it is...
Then if I try to run the game from the agsedit.exe
It seems to load for a bit then it says 'game was run with no errors'
And if I do it from the compiled folder it says that it is not a valid Win32 application.
Can some one shine some light on this problem?
[edit]
Just tried 26 sp 1 and it work fine for a little while, but then when I tried to test my game agian I got the Error about the game engine not shutting down correctly. Then when I tried to run my game outside the engine I got the Win32 Application error..
I hope I get around to finishing my game in the next 34 years. :-\
Hmm... I remember I once got a warning about "the game may have been hung" after a test run... But I think this isn't that relevant... anyway, your harddrive may be corrupted..? Updated DirectX?
Are you sure you got rid of the virus? A message like:
"not a valid Win32 application"
indicates the file is rather corrupt.
The other thing to check is make sure your disk isn't full.
I thought I was rid of it, I may want to double check that.. I have Directx 9.0b.
Is it possible for a the files used for the game to become corrupt...I thought it was just the .exe...hell I wouldn't know..
Thanks for your help, I suppose I have some work to do.
:o Holy Crap! I definetly have a virus...and ain't this a kick in the pants, the only game I got left is minesweeper...
