I had a power break, and when the power came back on I found the room I was working on wouldn't work - it says, understandably enough,
---------------------------
AGS Editor
---------------------------
LoadRoom: unexpected end of file while loading room
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
Ok, so if CJ or anyone else could figure out a way for me to regain all the work that is still there, i'd REALLY appreciate it, especially since this room had a particularly LARGE amount of text messages.
Unfortunately, it looks like the power cut happened while it was saving the room to disk, so not all of the file got saved.
There is no way that you can realistically restore any data from that room now - sadly all I can recommend is restoring it from your last backup.
Sorry about that, but AGS isn't power cut proof.
If the text messages are still there, you might be able to recover them by loading the room file into notepad or something, and see if there's anything recoverable. Chances are it didn't get very far with the saving though.
<sigh> Well, thanks anyway. At least all the typed text from messages and Displays, is still in there, I checked it out with notepad...
Did you run Scandisk after the cut, and did it recover any lost data? If this happens, you might get your data back by backing up the damged room file, opening it in a text editor, opening the scandisk .chk file and copying it's contents to the room file, and trying to load it... just a thought...
Hmm, didn't think of that. Well, I've remade the room now, thanks anyway.
