Post by: Chicky on Thu 01/01/2004 20:06:31
i didnt know wether to post this in the begginer forum or the technical but hey, here goes.

im trying to get the ags snow plugin to wrok but it wont, i extracted the files into te ags folder, but the two applicattion extention files wernt there, but thats cus they're aplication extentions right?

newayz i loaded my game went to  plugnis, ticked the ags snow plugin box then saved. so that means i extracted it propally.

Then i extracted te two files it says to, into my game/compiled folder. right.

im not sure wether idid this propally but this is my main problem. I dont understand how you atachally activate the rain and how to set it in the script.

please help

So were you able to run your game with the plugin ticked? If you were then it's installed correctly. Next, you need to draw some raindrops and set up a view. Have you run the snow/rain demo game? Look in it and see how the snow/rain script attached. Yes, you need to write some script commands in order to make snow/rain plugin work. Look in SnowRain20.txt file for the related script functions.

on player enters room:

srSetRainAmount(500);

How progressing?

Ah, yes DLLs are always hidden. By default Windows hides them as system files.

hmm, strange. What versions of AGS, snow/rain plugin and Windows respectively?

Just in case, the files should go as follows:

in AGS\ two files:
SnowRain201.dll
alleg40.dll

in AGS\SnowDemo\Compiled:
alleg40.dll

Look it in SnowRain20.txt, it should be either ver2.0 or ver 2.01. If it's 2.01 you need the latest AGS v2.6 I am afraid. If you can't upgrade AGS then download an older version of plugin (2.0) from here (http://invis.free.anonymizer.com/http://www.geocities.com/scorpiorus82/ags_snowrain20.zip).
