fatal exception at very beginning of "7 days a skeptic"

Hi !

I have played several adventures done with AGS and never had any problems, until now.

Just after a minute into "7 days a skeptic" I get this message :

"An exception 0xC0000005 occurred in ACWIN.EXE at EIP = 0x00407775 ; program pointer is +6,ACI version 2.61.747 , gtags (3,4)

AGS cannot continue, this exception was fatal. Please note down the numbers above, remember what you were doing at the time and notify CJ on the Tech forum.

(Room 1 script line 97)"

The game crashes before I could do anything. I've just seen a picture of a spaceship, then the error message occurs.

Are you able to run other AGS games, or is 7 Days the only one that causes problems? It's worth trying to update your graphics drivers, and try changing the Sound and Graphics settings in the game setup and see if that helps.

Of course. If have played more than 10 AGS games without any problems. Only this one crashes.

I haven't heard any other reports of this game crashing. It might be worth asking the game author what script is on room 1 line 97 in case it sheds any clues.

And also, have you yet tried what Pumaman suggested before, ie. fiddling with the game settings?
Try disabling the Digital sound and MIDI music in the game setup and see if it makes any difference.
