I'm trying to make a staircase like the one in KQ3 (Actually it really is for KQIII+ VGA - See Games in Development Forum).  Where the staircase is folded in the middle behind itself.

.../-----\_
../.......__/..__ <-Upper Floor
./....../...__/
/......__/.......\_>Lower Floor
-----/

(Excuse my terrible ASCII art)

My problem is that when I use my walkable areas (I created one for each level) the character is allowed to just cut the corner and not walk to the middle platform to continue on down the stairs.

I'm hoping for an easy answer, maybe I'm missing something...

Will I have to change my walkable areas or do some scripting?

I really don't want to have to flip my staircase around.  So, that the staircase is folded infront of itself (then the diagonal's of the staircase ramps leave a gap between the walkable areas and there isn't a problem).

Any help is appreciated.

***** That worked out great, Thanks!  There's a couple of problems with the path detection, but I think I can take it from here.  I just needed a little insight to the world...(excuse my bad pun).

Hope it's what you need: staircase test (20kb).
See mask areas (walkables/regions/walkbehins) & room script for the implementation.

-Cheers
