Title: Plugin Idea
Post by: Moox on Sat 10/04/2004 15:01:08
I had an idea for a plugin this morning while looking out the window, A shadow plugin. What it would do is take the sprite, change it grayscale and then it would stick out under the character at an angle you pick depending on the light source. Anyone else think this is a good idea?

Yea, LostTraveler, I tried to figure out how such thing could work some time ago already. Theoretical version is here.

Though about light source to give shadow needed opacity/angle, too.
But without angle, you can do such shadows right now, or you could draw shadows by yourself with needed angle. Well, that's a lot of scripting.

sorry I don't think it's a good idea.  if you were walking on anything but perfectly flat ground the shape of the shadow would be wrong and totally ruin the mood..only a 3d environment could do this well.

I never saw that thread before increator, thanks for linking me to it. and stuh you have a point there if a shadow hits the was lit would have to bend, so it pretty much is impossible i guess this thread is pointless
