Hi and welcome to the forums.

But please, you can do better than that! Post the entire error message and tell us, step-by-step, what you have done after downloading AGS.

After i down loaded ags and extracted it, i followed the tutorials up to the (test game), when i import the background into the editor i get message will not be part of the game, then i try to run the game and get the message (error aci version 2.71,894) asking me to check that i have saved it correctly, i can`t find the folder when i try to save it.
how do you save game correctly, do you save it (save as) or just (save)?.
thanks

You can press Ctrl+C to copy the message can't you?

Although it sounds to me like you just didn't save the room.Ã,  After you import the background, go to Room -> Save as... and then type the name of the room, i.e. "room1.crm" (note that it must be in the format "roomX.crm" where X is the room number).

grampy

thank you.
i did what you said and it worked.
it is good to know there are people out there willing to help.
the ags system is keeping an old mind active.
once again many thanks.
grampy.

Glad you got it working now, but AGS probably shouldn't just crash like that. I'm sure when CJ (AGS's developer) sees this he will put a meaningful error message in the next version.

That is strange, the room file being missing shouldn't cause it to crash -- I've just tested this myself and it was fine. I'm intruiged to know how that happened.

hi chris
i think we can put it down to the fact that i am new to the computer world, and that i am rushing these tutorials to get a game made for my granddaughter with her being the main charactor.
so i have gone back to the first page and started again.
thanks again to the people who came forwards to help.
