Game not shutting down properly

Everytime I try to save the progress of my game I get this error:

error: unable to open custom exe 'compiled\Eddy.exe' for writing. If you are currently running the game, shut it down.

But I'm not running the game.
Just before I got this error ags crashed. It was just after testing my game.
I'm using 2.62.509.0.

Any help would be apreciated.

Try to press CTRL+ALT+DEL and then click on "Processes" and check if your game is in that list.
If it is, then select the entry and click on "End Process" and everything will work again.
If it isn't then... well... then I am not sure what to do.

Thanks for your help, that would have probably solved it.
But just before you replied I restarted my computer. Everything works fine now. Thank god.

I have the same problem with the 2.71 final version.

Please, we need more info to get to the bottom of this:

Does it happen every time?
Does it also happen if you close all other programs like virus scanners and the like?
Does killing the process via the task manager help?

There is a known issue with 2.7 and earlier versions where sometimes it will not shut down properly on some systems. However as far as I know this is all resolved with 2.71 Final.

Arcangel, could you answer strazer's questions please since you are the only person to report this issue with 2.71.
