Intergrating ACT files into AGS

Pretty sure this is not a beginners question, apologies if the admin deems it to be.

I use Animation Master V11.0 to create some of the characters and objects views. This creates a files known as .ACT (Actor files). I know alot of old SCI games used this feature, but I couldn't find anything about it being compatible with AGS or even how to intergrate it. If anybody is familiar with ACT files, please help.

Thanks in advance.

You guys dont do this on purpose, do you?
.act is a proprietary format of the app you're using, there's no way you can import it directly into AGS, ok?

So in a way, this is absolutely a beginner's question ...

Watch your mouth, KhrisMUC. :P
We don't need that kind of attitude in our forums.

Whether AGS can or cannot import a format just depends on whether support of such files have been implemented. It is not important whether it is a proprietary format (okay, of course if its spec. is unknown to public it may not be possible). (Take the lip-synch files and SCI fonts as examples. Well they may not be proprietary formats but you get the idea.)

The answer is 'no' though, as AGS doesn't support those ACT files, unless someone make a plugin or support for them are incorporated into the editor.

However, as I didn't know what Animation Master was (I never heard of it), quick googling showed me this, which it apparently, seems to be a programme for 3D characters (or, was it just prerendered characters?). As AGS currently supports only 2D graphics. it's not very likely to support them natively in the near future (we have 3D Character plugin though, but I don't know what formats it supports).

Thankyou Gilbet, I shall have a look at the plugin, or for any modules that may be able to help. If its not possible, I will find another method to use the animations I have created. Much appreciated.

Does Animation Master allow you to save the rendered frames as images?  If not you could always printscreen for each frame, import it into a graphics program, crop as needed, and save it as a png.  I know it sounds tedious, but it may be your only option.

If it can save as animated GIFs it will save you some work too, as the editor can import animated GIFs to multiple sprites. Unfortunately, as GIF format supports up to only 8-bit graphics it may not be good if you want better colour depth.

Thats exactly what I've done, except I'm using BMP. ;D

Thankyou all the same though. Revonx.
