Title: Problems with old AGS games in Win XP.
Post by: Mosk on Wed 26/01/2005 18:20:01
Hey, I downloaded some games made with older versions of AGS (V2.30, V 2.31, etc), and they don't function. when I want to run the .exe file, a message appears saying "There was a problem initializing graphics mode 320 x 200", "Problem: 'Cannot set video mode'". So Then I run the setup, but it don't function either.
Suggestions? ???

These games were likely DOS based.

You can download AGS 2.31 (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/ags_231.zip) and use the ACWIN.EXE engine from that to try and run the games.

See this KB article for more information (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/kbview.php?id=22)

Failing that though, you could try something like DosBox, or try and persuade the game author to update the game to a more recent version of AGS.
