Problems with running AGS on Windows XP

When I try to run the program I get an error message saying that the program has encountered a problem and it has to close.



Computer specs are:
Athlon 3200+
Asus A8N-E Motherboard
3 GB DDR1 ram
Geforce 6600gt
DirectX 9.0c
.NET Framework 1.1, 2.0 SP1, 3.0 SP1, 3.5 all installed

Any ideas?
