Title: Prodigal error message when loading save game (SOLVED)
Post by: mr.me on Fri 23/02/2007 04:06:56
I get this message when I try to load my saved game:

"Illegal exception

An exception 0xC0000005 occured in ACWIN.EXE at EIP = 0x7C91142E ; program pointer is +335, ACI version 2.71.891, gtags (594,36)

AGS cannot continue, this exception was fatal."

It was loading fine, then suddenly it started closing the program and displaying this.

Did you change anything in your game after saving the game? (Like changing setup option for example)

I changed the setup once and the game loaded fine, then I changed it back and it loaded fine again, I had saved and loaded since then and it worked fine.

I saved downstairs in the bottom right corner of Arch Lord's quarters.

Please take a look at the following thread discussing a similar problem with the game in question:

The solution there is to temporary disable sound/music in game setup, run the game and load your savegame, re-save it at a later moment, then try enabling sounds back.

See if it helps at all.

If CJ can detect where the corrupted MP3 are in the compiled game, would he be able to hack a few bytes and fix this problem, I wonder?

Disabling the sound/music worked. Thank you for your help!

Yeah. See the other post about this. This problem all of a sudden cropped up...I've never heard of it before...so I'd guess the file got corrupted on the server that is hosting the game. More details in the other post.
