I'm trying to RUN some older games, but they don't start at all... Instead, I get this:

"Adventure Creator v2.21 Interpreter
Copyright (c) 1999-2000 Chris Jones
ACI version 2.21.167
Pentium Pro CPU detected.
Could not load the language definition file. Check you have a valid
copy of the Adventure Creator, and that the LANGUAGE environment is valid."

Some of them are actually playable. Just not everyone.. I'd appreciate it if I got any help :)
Veteran, writer... with loads of unreleased games. Work in progress.

Yeah. Just try to use the Windows engine first.
There used to be original AGS packages accessible here but unfortunately most of them are offline now. I think someone may still have them uploaded elsewhere.

You may also do some more checks. First, check the paths the games are in. As path and file naming conventions for DOS programmes are more restrictive, make sure the folder names follow the 8.3 rule and don't have illegal characters like spaces and accented characters (and that, the games are not located in stupid locations like "My Documents", etc.) or try to run them with stuff such as DosBox.
