Dunno if this is the right place to post, but well I'm gonna have a heart attack so..

I tested my AGS game and then the game cut out, and spybot- search and destroy told me there's a mallicious spyware in an AGS file, and well.. it deleted it.

So.. The AGS engine was deleted, and so was the main .exe. I downloaded AGS again, but now it can load up my game, but not run it as theres not the exe file in the compiled. Can it not remake the file again?

It's not the end of the world if I got a back up, right? However my back up would take me back a couple of hours worth of work.

Please help me!!! F****king spyware!!!!!

Oh, it happened right after I recorded a line of speech in goldwave and put into the AGS folder. Odds are largely that this is the cause. I will revert back to using Audacity.

EDIT: Okay panic over, I sorted it out! To have such near disasters occur so close to game release! (Close in AGS time anyway)

You can lock this if you like, or give me any advice.

I would think that any spyware removal software would not actually delete the file(s), but rather quarantine them.

The Compiled folder can be recreated by AGS entirely...or was it not recreating the EXE?

Anyway, the moral of this story is: Don't use SpyBot, and don't use GoldWave. (All these Anti-SpyWare programs just make me suspicious...)

As long as you have the original game files (room crm files and other resources like sound, etc.) you can always load the game back up in AGSEdit and save the game again to recreate the compiled game (like monkey mentioned), unless it deleted your game's original files.

Backup early, backup often.

I think anti-spywares some times when they detect a program which produces .exe files, they treat it as a virus/spyware/worm.

You can regain your lost data! There are many programs that can recover deleted data from hard disk, this happens because actually when a file is "deleted" that means its existence isn't recognized any more from PC so new data it is possible to be saved in the position of the deleted file. Then the deleted file is impossible to be recovered.
Ã,  there are many free programs to Internet that can recover your lost data. Give them a try! Of course there is a possibility that your data has been completely lost (it depends from if you have installed/created many datas since your files' deletion).
