I sent a game I've made to a friend, but when he tried to open it, he got the following error message:

---------------------------
Illegal exception
---------------------------
An exception 0xC0000005 occured in ACWIN.EXE at EIP = 0x004D7EBA ; program pointer is +0, ACI version 2.60.698, gtags (0,0)

AGS cannot continue, this exception was fatal. Please note down the numbers above, remember what you were doing at the time and notify CJ on the Tech forum.

Most versions of Windows allow you to press Ctrl+C now to copy this entire message to the clipboard for easy reporting.

OK

The game starts without any problems on my computer though...
What does it mean and how can the game be started?

Which Windows version does he use?

Any chance you could update your game to the latest stable version (v2.62)?

- Try running the game from the root of the drive (c:/game/ instead of c:/games/lotsofagsgames/downloadedtoday/1/versiona/game/).
- Try (re-)installing the latest version of DirectX.
- Try running the game with a more recent engine.

Also, ask him to run the game setup program and try different settings for the sound and music.
