Blackwell Legacy - Internal error when loading save file

I, like many others, purchased The Blackwell Legacy as part of the Indie Royale Xmas Bundle and tied it to my Steam account.  I had played the game like normal, but upon receiving the latest update from Steam on January 13, 2012 (official release date apparently?) my save files would no longer load, causing the game to crash and give an error to post the error here (...).

Alright, I just didn't see anything posted in the technical forum (the one the error says to post in), so I figured it may not have been posted yet.
