Suggestion: Better interaction editor command order

I was just thinking that it was quite annoying when your using the interaction editor how you get a huge list of possible actions for an event, when you only use a few of the actions for the vast majority of the game, I was thinking that maybe a possible improvement would be to have a smaller list of commands to come up first, containing the commands which are used most regularly, for example i find myself using "move character" "display message", or "go to another room" ALOT more than some of the other commands. I know that you could just learn to script these commands and so could avoid the tedious scrolling around the "configure action" drop down box but I'm thinking more in terms of a less experienced user who is getting to grips with the system and is not confident at scripting the actions themselves.

p.s the "less used" actions would be held in a different window perhaps titled "advanced commands", you wouldnt just forget about them :)

There is already the advanced window... its called "the script editor"

It's an interesting idea though.
Perhaps the commands could be sorted by how often they've been used, then alphabetically inside that sort.

CJ's already confessed, however, that the whole interaction editor is a pain in his mush-esteemed posterior and is unlikely to get much maintainance

yeah, but im just thinking of beginners. Im an intermediate user and i do sometimes use the interaction editor. I think its quite dauting for a new user to have to dive straight into scripting and i think steve's idea is good, its exactly what i was thinking.
Another idea is to allow the user to create a custom list of commands. This would let you put all the ones YOU like to use best in it so that you can get to them really quickly.

The conundrum from my point of view is that the Interaction Editor is used very little by the majority of people who use AGS, since they always use scripting.

Whilst the Interaction Editor is a handy way for newbies to start learning scripting, the amount of work that it takes to improve / fix the interaction editor is disproportional to the benefits, because of the small number of people who actually use it.

Thanks for your suggestion, I can see where you're coming from. But I'm still not sure about the future of the Interaction Editor.

Please TRY to improve it, oh great and mighty Pumaman, it helps us newbs (as far as programing is concerned I am a total NEWB) if you can find it in your CJ heart to help. Save us Pumanman, from the awful grim grip of Raw Code! :D

yeah pumaman i know what you mean.
Lo_res_man proves my point tho. Still it probably wont get improved since most people use scripting. Poor noobs wont get a chance *plays violin on shoulder*
