Title: Suggestion: WebAGS
Post by: Dennis Ploeger on Thu 17/04/2003 12:28:28
What would be cooler than a Web-Version of AGS, eh? Opening page http://www.tierraentertainment.com/webags/kq2vga.html and you can play kq2vga online through a java-applet-supported AGS-interpreter.

Well, I suggest that, but I don't think, I could program it ;-)

What do you think?

Flan, I think that deep means that an existing game could be played on a web page, rather than as an exe, using a java AGS interpreter. Wasn't there some other Adventure Game Engine that was written in Java?

I guess that a Java interpreter would be vvvveeerrrrryyy ssssloooowww

And the games would have to be short, arcade games. So it would not be as good.

The TCP/IP-plugin (which you probably mean) has developped much more. For more information please read the corresponding web-page.
http://a-v-o.selfhost.de/ags/tcpip/
The functions are explained in the readme.txt which is in the zip-file.

But this isn't suitable for what deepgames wants to realize.

I think many people have heard of Sarien.net before though. Give now old this thread is I'll just lock it, unless people have more interesting information to add, in which case just drop me a PM to reopen it.
