Tech Q: Why does AGS hate MIDI drum kits?

Just a quick one, not sure if it's been answered before but on beta-testing a game today there's something I've wondered, and I know others have too. AGS is fine with all channels of MIDI except the drum channel.

All the instruments of a MIDI tune I made sound exactly as I intended when played through AGS, except the drums. The drums always seem to be the first default MIDI drum set. So when you've composed it with orchestral drums but you hear a rock snare, it turns the whole track tits up.

Is there any explanation for this, or a way to get it to work? I'd assume its a matter for the engine, because changing the settings in a winsetup file doesn't do the trick. If not could it be something that could be looked into?

I'm interested to find out :)

I have to admit, I'm not really much of an expert on how the MIDI player works, AGS just uses an external MIDI library. If anyone has any ideas about this, feel free to let us know ;)
