Title: Suggestions: AC runtime tweaks
Post by: edmundito on Mon 22/11/2004 16:25:45
Here's a couple of things that are long ovedue, IMO, and should be addressed:

1) when you alt+tab out of an ACWIN-powered game, the music keeps playing, but... it's stuck in a loop so it's pretty annoying. Most games just solve this problem by not playing the music while the program is still running in the background. Is there any way this can be done?

2) You can't load games saved in a different resolutions. So, what's the point of playing the game windowed with a visible size if you can't even load what you've been playing so far?

Thanks. :)

1) Yeah, this is an oldie. I'll try and get round to it at some point.

2) Well, you can just start the game up again and restore your game. If you decide to switch to full-screen, then you can still run at 640x400 and load your save game.

1) When I say other games, I mean comercial games of course  ;)

2) I'm pretty sure I tried it in two of a kind, and it said that I saved the game in a different resolution, since I played the game full screen 320x200 and saved it but then I tried loading the game at 640x400 windowed (so I could see the screen of course).

Well yes, that will happen. If you're going to want to play it windowed, start off at 640x400 :P

Maybe it's a good idea to rethink of the possibility of that "play at low res with 2/3X pixels" option in windowed mode (I'm too lazy to dig up the old thread).

That way you can play it full screen at 320x2xx, then play it windowed, with game still at 300x2xx but displayed as 640x4xx.
