Title: Tone generation in AGS? Workarounds?
Post by: Hollister Man on Tue 18/05/2004 23:10:08
I used to have a programming engine called Logo, and a more updated version called Microworlds.Ã,  Both were capable of synthesizing single notes and chords using MIDI.Ã,  I was wondering if this is at all possible using AGS?

I thought that possibly using single sounds or MIDI files would possibly work, but there are a limited amount of sound channels, and I think only 1 MIDI can play at a time.

I know I have seen a previous thread on something similar, but when I searched, I was unable to find anything (the search won't find *just* tone, it finds skintones, deftones, kidneystones, etc.)

If this isn't a possibility, can anyone suggest a *good* virtual keyboard based MIDI program?Ã,  I used to have one from Sound Blaster that came with my first SBPro, but it won't work with modern sound cards.

 ???

You want to play MIDI notes from AGS in order to create a MIDI file because you don't have a MIDI maker...I sense circular logic here!  Or am I misunderstanding you?

I thought he was just trying to do something technical, like a drum game, etc., in AGS (probably for the upcoming official AGS demo).

I think it's not possible unless you use plugins at teh moment.

Thanks, that's what I needed to know.  (Yes, it was feasibly for a puzzle)  But I also thought I'd at least note the fact that I'm looking for a MIDI program. :)
