AVIs and in-game sound

I'm having a problem.  It seems that when I play an AVI, when it comes back to the game, the music in a room will play for a few seconds then cut out, and speech will repeat itself endlessly.

The way I'm doing it is, I have a "movie room" the game goes to whenever an AVI is played, so when it finishes it goes to another room, which is where the problem begins.

Are you using the AVI sound in PlayVideo, or using the in-game sound while the video plays?

Grundislav

Yes, I'm using the AVI audio.

Say you give a character an item and it triggers an AVI cutscene.  I have it scripted so it goes to room 100, which is the "movie room" and plays the video.  When the video is done it returns to the previous room, where the music will start up again but then cut out, and the voices loop until you click the mouse to skip text.

Pumaman

Does the room you're returning to do some sort of StopMusic in the player enters screen, that might cause the music to cut out again?

As for voices looping - that's rather strange; do they keep repeating the entire sentence, or just a bit of it?

Nope, the StopMusic command is in the movie room before playing the AVI.

The voice file repeats, like "Hello, how are you?Hello, how are you?Hello, how are you?Hello, how are you?Hello, how are you?" until you click the mouse to go on to the next line, which also repeats.

Also, sometimes the audio completely dies when coming back from the AVI.  I think I'm going to try playing the AVI in the current room instead of going to another one to see if it makes a difference.

Pumaman

Yeah, would you mind doing that as a quick test? Thanks.

Also, when you switch to the AVI is there only music playing at the time, or is there any other sound as well?

Grundislav

Tried it and still experienced the same problem.  When it switches to AVI there's only music playing.

This time I had it play within the same room, starting with StopMusic, then PlayVideo, then PlayMusic.  It worked fine for the first video, then after the second video the music didn't resume playing, and the first time I spoke to a character the voices repeated.  Oddly enough, the repeating only occurs once.  If I move the main character and look or talk to something ro someone else the voice audio corrects itself.

Are you able to try it on another computer and see if the same thing happens? I'll look into possible bugs with the video player.
