Just finished playing through Trilby's Notes (Windows XP run through Bootcamp with Parallels on a brand new MacBook), LOVED the game and it worked like a charm. Now I want to play the special edition, but when I try to open the program I get this unholy message:
"An exception 0xC0000005 occurred in ACWIN.EXE at EIP = 0x00425846; program pointer is -16, ACI version 2.62.772, gtags (0,0)
AGS cannot continue, this exception was fatal. Please note down the numbers above, remember what you were doing at the time and notify CJ on the Tech Forum."
Horror! Utter lack of hilarious and insightful Yahtzee commentary! I am duly notifying the tech forum. Please help...my life will be oh so incomplete with only the boring, standard version of Trilby's Notes therein.
Best,
Ari J.

Not that it's going to make a big difference, but is it Bootcamp or Parallels? Both I think not :)

I used bootcamp to create the partition, but it's parallels that's running :)
Even more Oh No! Now 6 Days a Sacrifice won't work either. I just get a "6das se.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" message, with an error report too long and incomprehensible to post here (unless someone who knows more than me can direct me to the relevant portion). I'm a mac guy, I don't know how to deal with this stuff! Please help.
I tried finding the non-special edition version since it worked with Trilby's Notes, but can't seem to locate it. If someone would point to that so I can see if it works, I'd appreciate it also.

Update: Yep, I found the original, non SE-version, and sure enough it works like a charm so far. Why does my computer hate me? Why does it want to keep me away from author commentary? WHY???
Sorry, this game was made with a very old version of AGS and it's no longer possible to offer fixes for this.

What? Trilby's Notes or the Special Edition? Thought the SE was released in 09?
No fixes available for Trilby's notes OR 6 days a sacrifice? It just seems so odd that 7 days a skeptic SE would work fine and the later special edition games both won't.

From the error message posted in the first post, the game was using AGS V2.62, which is indeed an outdated and unsupported version (though this is the definitive version that I will use), so it's difficult for us to help anyway, unless Yahtzee recompiles his game with a newer version of AGS.

So all you need to do Sslaxx is nag the crap out of Yahtzee :)
So basically, it seems like I'm SOL, at least officially. Does anyone have any unofficial suggestions for what might be wrong that I could try?
Try disabling the sound and music in the game Setup program, see if that helps. I remember that could cause problems in older versions of AGS.

The games may have been released in 2009, but Yahtzee made them using a version of AGS from 2004. Several issues have been fixed since then.
