Title: Trouble with action sequences
Post by: Rave on Fri 23/04/2004 06:09:51
Hey ya'll, I hope this is the right place to put this thread. I'm not having trouble with creating a game, but rather when I am playing ones. I havn't had this problem until recently, but its rather annoying. Its only happaned when playing two games so far. When a character is doing abnormal actions (things other than walking, talking, etc) which they havn't done previously in the game, (sneeze, throw a rope, swim, etc) recently my computer has a tendancy to freeze....on a rare occassion, it will unfreeze after a long while, but mostly it will go into an error messege after 10 min of being frozen and shut down the game. Leaving me to restore an older save, retry, and have the same thing happan again. Its VERY annoying and so far I havn't been able to complete the games which the error occured. I had figured it was probobly just a bug in the game, but now I think it must be somthing else. I thought I had plenty of RAM and memory on my comp, so I don't know what it could be.  If anyone has some ideas I could try, please respond ASAP. Thanx.

Please be more specific, what games did you get these crashings? And how to reproduce them?

Alright, although I dread locking/freezing up my computer again on purpose.  :P The first time it happaned was in NeverQuest whe you used the feather on the judge to make him?....her?...probobly a him?.... sneeze. My computer froze on the second Ahh....Ahh.....Aahhh..... right before the CHOO! :S Everytime.  The second time it keeps happaning is in Frank the Farmhand when he is throwing the rope into the tree to catch a blanket. He twirls it around in his hand and just when he is about to toss my computer freezes. Every time I try, its the same. Its almost like there is so much happaning on the screen that my comp can't keep up or somthing.....but it isn't that old. *sigh*

Try using the games' setup, and under ADVANCED increase the memory the game uses for itself - all the way, if you must. If the games don't have a winsetup program,~copy/paste the following line into your acsetup.cfg file, under [misc] -

cachemax=20480

When the game eventually quit with an error message, what did it say?

Wohoo!!! I fixed it all by myself. :D Somthing on my comp must have been messed up. All I did was Scan Disk and waited 4 hours. :P (the first time I had to run it since I've had my computer) Anyway, it all worked fine after that. Also did Defrag while I was at it. Anyway, thanks again for ya'll trying to help, its all fixed now.  ;D
