I am going to be getting back into the world of the Macintosh in about two months. I'll be getting a Powerbook G4. Was wondering if there might be some way that I could possibly help out or do a port of AGS to MacOS X 10.3....?

They are using the new UNIX base for the OS, so I should think that making a port for Mac would be even easier. All that should need to be done is take the Linux version, right? Compile under UNIX and voila, instant Mac port, right?

Dunno. Just wondering if someone out there is either already started in this or is interested in starting. Use to program for A/UX and Sys 6.x, some 7.x. Been gone from Apple for far to long. ;)

A Mac port wouldn't be as easy as a Linux port, because it uses reverse endian-ness (basically that means the data is stored backwards in memory).

That would mean significant changes would be required to get AGS loading games on a Mac, and I don't think it's really worth it.

Sorry.

I think another big obstacle is that there's currently no working version of Allegro for MAC (correct me if I'm  wrong).

The latest work in progress version of Allegro is intended to be used on Mac OS X. However, it's still very beta. It will probably be months before it's production quality. (Whenever WIP becomes Production).
