the only thing you need essentially is a scrolling background, and to apply edge scrolling for the mouse. I'll get back to you on that...

EDIT: here it is! http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=14970.0

should cover everything.

If I were you i would look into the art of 3D programming using an Engine called Torque. It's language is VERY similar to the one used by AGS because it is also based on C. You can get a compatible text editor called "Crimson Editor" it thats freeware and it will let you create cool 3d games.
by the end of the year you could have your very own first-person shooter similar to halo  ;D

That is almost helpful, X-Hunter. "Almost" because this is the AGS technical forum, and that neither solved nor helped on how to do it in AGS. ::)

There's been some threads about it, I thought it had been agreed that a plugin could do it (I have no idea how), but no one has made one yet...

One of the threads is here.

In order to do this thing right, you'd basically need a dynamic distortion filter. As I said in that other thread, I don't think the math involved to do the transformations is very hard, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be hard to implement in AGS. Maybe the performance would be too slow. Maybe it's difficult to add graphics filters to AGS. I don't know.

I'm not aware of a good way to fake a node-based 360-degree panorama. What you can do is fake a situation where the camera is circling around a particular point. That can be achieved by clever use of parallax scrolling. There's an example of it at the beginning of The Longest Jorney, when April is on the cliff. You can't do 360 degrees, though. I would say only up to about 15 degrees look realistic.
