I recieved this mail, but cannot help.
Has somebody an idea what it could be?

"A couple of days ago, I downloaded a copy of A Second Face. When I try to start the game, I get this message:

"Unable to write to the current directory. Do not run this game off a network or CD-ROM drive. Also check free drive space (you need 1MB free)."

I have installed the game on a computer running Windows 7, and my hard drive currently has over 400 GB of free space. I'm just wondering if there have been any other reports of people experiencing similar problems with the game using Windows 7, and if not, what else I might be able to try."

I don't know what version of AGS that was made with, but most older versions used to write save games and such (by default) to the game directory. Windows Vista (and 7 which is built on the Vista kernel) is very, very, very particular about where programs are allowed to write data to..which can be good for some things..but it's annoyingly terrible for others.

AGS also creates a save file in the save directory as soon as the game is started for "restarting" the game. This is why you're getting that error when loading the game.

In short, try copying the game directory (game EXE, any resource files, etc.) into your Documents folder. That should be writable by AGS, so you should be able to play (and save) the game from there.

Edit: Oops! I just realized that "A Second Face" is in fact your game and you said that someone sent you this via email. Send the directions to them. If you're not against it consider modifying your game and uploading a new version to use the Documents/My Documents folder as the save game folder by default.

I have loaned a little notebook with W7, downloaded ASF and installed. I had to change the settings of the graphics driver in „winsetup“, but after that it runs smooth ...

What might be a difference to normal installing and can be tried: I didn't install to the folder choosen by default. I used the downloads-folder in my user-folder (so it's not on c\programms...).

I don't now much about pc's, but it sounds like the answer wich is given by monkey.  So it's working!
