Title: Windows drop-out when showing an MPEG
Post by: simulacra on Mon 04/07/2005 16:09:15
After showing a MPEG movie, some of my testers report that the game application minimizes. Can I do anything about this?

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not really sure why this would happen.

I'd just like to say I haven't. Nor with AVIs or any other format. And I use a mini-program with which I view films, and I use it frequently, and that mini-program is made with AGS.

Yes, it's the same format as the game (640*480)

What colour depth are you running your game at?

16-bit.

Could the MPEG be possibly running at 24bit?

The other option is when you check the properties of the MPEG within Windows Media Player, what are the Audio and Video Decoders set as?

The MPEG might be 24-bit. This may be the problem...

As I said, it's also worth checking what MPEG decoder Windows Media Player is using - AGS might not have a problem with Microsofts, but perhaps Xing / Elecard / Ligos do things differently...

Just a thought.
