What do you guys think? I mean, if people draw away from this program, then should 3.0 be the last Version update...with all known bug fixes & enhanced graphical features (new features for peopel to use, like Scene & Character creator)....well, what do you guys think? I am voicing an opinion!
Why on earth would you want to set a version cap? And is this even in the right forum?
Of course you're entitled to your opinion, but I doubt very much that CJ would ever set a version cap and then stick to it. If and when he decides to quit AGS, I'm guessing it'll be the day he gets sick of it, not on some set date and version...
...because AGS will never be completed! There are always bugs to fix and features to add and with new features comes bugs (not always)....
Why would people draw away from such a good thing?
I tell you: CJ is teh bestest!!
I dearly hope that Chris has a plan for if something happens to him. :o I wonder if anyone could even understand his code? We could have a lot of AGSers jumping off bridges if he disappeared. ;) Just kidding...sort of.
i'm confused why you think people will "draw away" from ags.
because they should be using SCI Studio? hehe joke joke
do you for some reason see the AGSers fleeing the community like rats on a sinking ship in the near future?
Hehe, this is silly, everyones replies are legit,
Also there is really no competition between engines, people are free to use as many or as few as they like. And many use SCI & AGS
Phil Roberts, I'd suggest you get to know the community around here before you start making silly statements, then you would understand that it's a pretty tight knit group, and you'd probably become friends with people here.
There's pleanty of room for both engines and I'm sure both will gain more members over time than losing members, I can't see what your point is or what you are trying to achieve.
It seems like your saying "hint, hint, I think you should stop making this engine soon cause no one will use it cause another exists" it just seems a very odd statement with very little research behind it.
This thread be an omen.
Winds of change consume the land!
Better start packing AGSers will.

Even if the world ends tomorrow, and the sky comes tumbling down on our heads I can't imagine anyone "drawing away" from AGS. And an issue like the end of the world is pretty serious, mind you. :o
One day AGS will be so powerful, CJ will lose control and will turn in a pulp. Yahtzee will have won!
and we will all become killer Cyber zoombies?!
THEN we can meet up with the SCI kru and rumble!
Or AGS will take over teh worlds computer systems and turn the world into a huge multiplayer adventure... *shivers*
I think there should be at least enough versions until the yeasr 5788, or til version 957320954.5682205 ;) There's no limit to how much AGS can grow, new suggestions appear every day, and people have no reason to 'draw away' from AGS. Of course you have the right to your opinion, but I see no grounds for it.
As for if something happens to Chris, well.. I think we need to lock CJ in a protected room which noone can penetrate, fireproof, floodproof, hackerproof, lavaproof and atom-bombproof. Then put guards around it day nad night, and thus CJ will always be safe and sound ;) j/k
World takeover.. mmm, sounds fun. I'm sure we'll enjoy living in the mutliplayer AGS game if it well designed ;)
Btw, if AGS does ever run out of things to update (quite impossible, but lets suppose) - it can always become a complete game making kit with article links, etc ;) hey that could be a good suggestion.. Nah. :P
P.S. Drive safely Chris! :D
I can predict some world where posters hang up everywhere reading "Chris Jones is Watching You". AGS would be...extremely great. The thought police would come and get all those thinking of leaving/rebelling/destroying the AGS system/community. Yeah...(hopefully this reader has read 1984 by George Orwell).
All he needs to do is teach AGS how to write its own code and we're all screwed.
CJ should take an apprentice and teach him the art of crafting AGS. (*in-joke alert #2* Guess who has been playing KOTOR lately).
I hope you aren't all serious about world domination. It's obviously the destiny of we UNIBROW(tm)-bearers.
I'm sure CJ has a lot of not-yet-implemented-suggestions in his pocket for the day when he becomes out of ideas. And I'm damn sure about that.
But yea, bridge jumping sounds reasonable. And this is where we'll be finally tested. Only the pure souls will have belief. Only loyal ones perform the jump. Who's with me?
Hail AGS!
*splash!*
glub-- gwuys, i gwot cwarried awway, uh?
Don't worry, InCreator, it wasn't your fault. The UNIBROW(tm) did it.
No, I don't think the AGS engine will ever get past V3.0.
Because it'll probably be renamed to some other things (again) by that time! hehe.

what did it used to be called? point & click studio?
Adventure Creator
I'm waiting for AGS to gain sentience, personally...
didn't you see?
I predict that AGS will die the day I turn Jewish.
Tomorrow? Oh no!
AGA, it's now tomorrow, and I'm not Jewish. Hurray.

I wonder if anyone can draw AGS as nicely as Chris :P
Heheh! I don't want to hear about this crap, Josh Roberts. Hopefully, AGS will live on a few more years - and when it's due that Chris gets fed up with it, AGS will still be used forever!
So cut the crap please. It's annoying.
Oh, and Daniel+eric:
;D
Btw.. he has named his pet.. CJ! Christ!
hehehe
besides,
even if we couldn't get another ags version
the current one can make great games.... we don't need too much hi tech anyway ;)
I think what PhilRoberts said just shows his immaturity. People "drawing away" from AGS means they have lost interest and dedication to making games... which would not happen if you were truly dedicated in the first place. I think if you get burnt out on AGS that you were just "playing" it, like a game... you were amused for awhile, then you dropped it to move on to something else.
I think just because PhilRoberts is losing interest in AGS that doesn't mean everyone else is to. Sorry if he's not my trendsetter.

Let's also not confuse this Phil Roberts guy with me, Josh Roberts, a nice harmless little AGS user....
That must suck, having almost the same name with a total loser... but on the bright side, you aren't him. ;)
alright Ultimo, that was totally uncalled for...
Okay, I'll stop now. He just pisses me off...
