;DÃ,  Hi peoples!

I was wondering what are the various types of games possible with AGS. Are there many different types? And are there any examples of the various types available here for download?

Thanks for your time :).

AGS is capable of doing just about anything (can't have babies) ... but if you're not wanting to create an Adventure Game (Adventure Game Studio) there are probably better alternatives to use.

Check out this thread: READ THIS THREAD FIRST BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE and it'll help to fill you in on a LOT of questions you might come up with.

There have been several platform style games made, some are working on RPG style games.Ã,  It's really up to you ... and how much time/work you are willing to put into it.

If you are really going to move away from the adventure-style games then I'd suggest using either a different program or learn a programming languge (or use one if you already know one).  I don't think AGS provides much for anything other than adventure games, and so the game will be quite limited.  Learning a language will make your game much more flexible, and provide you with a base to make lots of other games in any genre.  If you're not up for learning a language then you could try using Game Maker (http://www.gamemaker.nl) which allows for any genre of game, however I don't think it's as intricate as AGS and I've seen so many more n00bish games from GM than AGS.  I'm not trying to put you off AGS, you might make a game that covers new ground for the community, however there are also alternatives.

Its kinda like Monster Garage.  AGS is DESIGNED to make Adventure Games, but we like to try making it do everything else (kinda like making a fire truck into a brewery!)  Its possible to do a LOT, AGS is tons more flexible than, lets say, SCI or SCUMM in their original incarnations, they were designed as a short-term tool, but lasted for years.

Also, once you learn the scripting language, you've got a good head-start of learning C++'s syntax, if I'm not mistaken.  Of course, I always had trouble with C++.

That's like looking through a microscope at a bacterial culture and seeing a THOUSAND DANCING HAMSTERS!

Your whole planet is gonna blow up!  Your whole DAMN planet...
