Cool. I read that they were planning this a little while ago. I've been playing 7th Guest for the first time and quite enjoyed the puzzles. Though the storyline is all over the shop.

I never played the first game (or 11th hour), from the look of it it haven't aged all that well(?) but would you say it's worth going into, if not only for curiosity's sake?

Both games are excellent and the graphics hold up really well IMO. They're cheap on Steam for a few more hours I think.

Perhaps I will look into them later considering they are now on Steam. I really liked first-person PnC games when I was a kid, though I never got too far into Myst but I liked it.

They're very, very unlike Myst. They're much more like camp 70s horror, with very poor live action performances. The puzzles are puzzles-for-puzzles' sake - not at all integrated into the world of the game. This is justified on the grounds that the villain Stauf is an evil toymaker.

I'm not a huge fan. But 11th hour does have the excellent title music "Mr Death":

"I can't find my car keys... better ask Mr Death."

I loved the first game when I was a kid, but never got my hands on the sequel.  When 7th Guest was re-released for iPad, I picked it up and holy crap is it a terrible game by today's standards.  I always knew the acting was awful, but as a kid I didn't realize how lazy the loosely-connected completely-arbitrary puzzles were.

Love the soundtrack though!

7th Guest is awesome on many levels; the sequel is at least graphically impressive (for its time, and I think it plays nicely even today). To imagine they make a third game gives me the shivers of... anticipation! (nod)

I will never forget the hilarious discussion about 11th hour's silliness in the Big Blue Cup podcast. Haven't played it myself.

But I did 7th guest and I quite liked it - camp, warts and all.

I've found the plot in both games too ridiculous to pay attention to. But the puzzles are good; I find them very interesting strictly for the gameplay.

Agreed. I've actually been playing 7G very recently (and still have to finish it).  The storyline, such that is is, is not memorable and quite messy, and there is no adventure to speak of.  The moving between rooms (while probably impressive in it's day) gets very tedious after a while too. But the puzzles are proper puzzler's puzzles and I'll be playing 11H for more of the same.  Also, the puzzles in 7G3 look quite promising. Can't wait to get my head around that spherical chess game.
