Are there any Nokia 770 users here?

I thought I saw a recent post about playing games on the Nokia 770 internet tablet but haven't been able to find the thread.   Anyway I have one now and  wonder if anyone else here has one or has an interest in trying to port AGS games to it.  It runs Debian Linux on an ARM processor so it should be possible with a little help from CJ and/or EvilTypeGuy.

Is it powerful enough, though? And widescreen.. eeeh. If you wanted the game to fill the display, you'd have to stretch it. And stretching doesn't look nice on LCDs. I see what you mean, though. Nice touchscreen and big display! If it runs homebrew code as well, yay!

Personally, I'd use the GP2x (It's been mentioned before). It also runs on Linux, with a 200Mhz ARM CPU, and 200Mhz co-processor (along with a 2D accelerator). And Allegro has already begun being ported to it!   With the unfortunate exception of a lack of touchscreen and keyboard, I doubt it's quite ready to be graced with AGS. It's probably easily powerful enough for 320x200/240 8bit and 16bit games, though. Which is most of the library! Or does CJ want AGS to be ported only to desktop computers, which can run ALL of the AGS games? oo;

That's probably the main obstacle and the answer to my question.  The Nokia 770 runs on an ARM processor as well.  Here is a link to it's website

The SCUMM VM is ported to it so I may try getting that to work.

I am going to try to write some applications for it as well.  The development system runs under Ubuntu Linux (a derivative of Debian).  I ordered the free disks the other day and will setup a development workstation as soon as they come in.   The SDK and development community can be found at Maemo.Org and a developer's blog and tutorials at Zak Experiment.   I'll let you know how everything turns out.

mwahahaha

IMO, if your gonna port an AGS game to another system of any sort, make it the DS.  Anything else wouldn't work very well.

Kinoko

Is that possible? With the DS, I mean? I'd -love- to make my own DS game.

scotch

Making your own DS game is quite possible, but AGS being ported? Probably not going to happen.

AGS games would work just fine on the PSP I'm sure, they have a little anaolog stick that would be perfect for moving the mouse.
"This must be a good time to live in, since Eric bothers to stay here at all"-CJ also: ACHTUNG FRANZ!

While a DS has a pointing thingie. I vote DS.

CJ, get to work.

mwahahaha

Agreed.  Even a DS compilation of a bunch of AGS games would be cool.
